2 Partenza Astuta

Mente spremuta
In balli generosi
Umbrosi i falli.
O vita,
O vita, arca timuta
Tù sì chì sì partenza astuta.

2 Partenza Astuta

Soul who flows
through generous dances
Dark flaws
Oh life,
Oh life, common grave
So feared, You alone are ready to leave

3 Prayer song

Alba impedita
E’tardavellu
Bocchiribellu
Manu insischita

3 Prayer song

Impeded dawn
Of cruel fever
Rebel mouth
Icy hand

7 Notte tana

Notte tana
di ghjornu
bardiana
di falsi secreti
bocca di fornu
pè i pueti
apriti à palesu

Notte
botte di ghjorni
più si ne lampa
è menu canta
ogni tirata
aceta a vita
viotati à veghja

7 Notte tana

Night lair
Of the day
Guardian
of false secrets
Oven mouth
for poets
Open wide

Night
Barrel of days
That sings less
When you fill it
Each draught
Vinegars life
Flow at the wake

8 Inna Moussa

Moses the Great has already painted this day hidden in his obscure words.
God has made holy the seventh day as the Blessed one.
The day of peace and of rest, on which His Only Son rested from his labors.
He has become flesh through the mystery of Becoming in death.
Through his resurrection He became again that which He was before.
He has given us eternal life, for He alone is good and gives love to man.

10 Treblinka

A sperenza ne campa ancu in lu bughju cecu

A sperenza ne campa ancu in lu bughju cecu
A voglia di fighjà torna u sole nasce
È mezu à notte è nebbia una luce ci vecu
A vita cerca sempre un pratu novu à pasce

… Lord I have nothing but hope

10 Treblinka

Of night and fog was made their voyage
Crossing the silence of extended white
Winter’s prisoners the cold did bite
From other men did they suffer the worst outrage

Elder, women, children pushed and crammed
Transported by that train to mortal exile
of an awful fate, sacrificed on the altar
Of a diabolical idea that was born in darkness

Hope stays alive even in the shadows
The desire to see the sun come up
Despite night and fog I see light up
This path that life has always revered

Elders, women, children: a single will
A whisper of revolt, desire for liberty still
That one and a hundred times hope revived
That in the hellish night of Treblinka survived

The revolt extinguished, the decision made
Some escaped, many were slain
They all chose the fate sweetest and plain
Better die on your feet than live on your knees

Hope stays alive even in the shadows
The desire to see the sun come up
Despite night and fog I see light up
This path that life has always revered

… Lord I have nothing but hope

13 Yawno Tlito

The young dove carries the eagle,
who before the people
sang his praise:
Oh Son of the Glorious,
you wanted to grow humblely.
You are like a kithara
among the voices,
still and silent,
like a child.
Let me praise You
like the angels do,
and proclaim Your glory eternally.

14 Amano Morio

God is with us, with us is the Lord
God is with us day and night
The Son of ‘jesse’ wrote the book of Psalms
And the birds began to sing
praise to the Lord

16 Inn al Baraya

Through you, oh Blessed One,
creation, the angel legions,
and all of mankind rejoic.
Oh holy temple, speaking garden of paradise,
Oh Mary, You are the glory of virginity
through which God became flesh
and was born as a child.
And He is our God since all eternity.
He who built His throne
out of your womb,
more hospitable than the Heavens.
Therefore, Blessed One,
creation rejoices.
Blessed be Thee.

17 Ororo Pinne

Through the forest
The deer run, barking
The wolf runs, howling all the while

18 Tookami

O far-away God, smile on us, purify us, cleanse us.
Protect us, make us happy, lead us.

19 Maroccu Biancu

Tarra rossa chì dasti à mamma
I so più belli celi
Vinti l’anni, tanti sugelli
Mimoria verde

Da ‘nduve mi vinarà
Issu sintimu stranu
Chì barca luntanu
E’in mè ne si perde

Maroccu biancu
Basgi à l’insiscu
Ora capiscu
Quant’era stancu!

19 Maroccu Biancu

Red earth that gave my mother
Her most beautiful skies
Twenty years and as many seals
Green memory

From where could come to me
This strange feeling
Which crosses the distances
And loses itself in me

White Morocco
Kisses to terror
Now I understand better
What my fatigue means!

20 Lacrymosa

Lacrymosa dies illa
Qua resurget ex favilla
Judicandus homo reus
Huic ergo parce, Deus
Pie Jesu Domine
Dona eis requiem. Amen

20 Lacrymosa

Full of tears shall be that day
on which from ashes shall arise
The guilty man to be judged
Therefore, O God, have mercy on him
Gentle Lord Jesus
grant them eternal rest. Amen

21 Letterella

O core di la mio diccia
Sì diccia in lu mio core
A’dà mi l’ore
M’ai datu miccia

Batticore in patime
A’ ch’hà onda hà batticcia
Sì deda chì in mè piccia
E’appicci e mio rime

L’annuttà mi s’aguanta
E’ s’incrocca u piacè
Di svilà ti chì in tè
Lu mio caminu canta

… Your light, Your soul in the silence,
Your countenance

Your fascinating illumination,
are the instpiration for my prayers andhymns
The shadows of twilight shroud me
But my joy and my delight are brightened
by Your attendant grandeur

21 Letterella

Oh heart of my fortune
You are fortune in my heart
Giving me hours
You set me on fire

Breathing, peace
There are no waves without shores
You are of this fat wood
That nourishes my rhymes

The twilight envelopes me
While in me stammers the pleasure
Of revealing that it is in you
That my path sings

...Your light, Your soul in the silence,
Your countenance
Your fascinating illumination,
are the instpiration for my prayers andhymns
The shadows of twilight shroud me
But my joy and my delight are brightened
by Your attendant grandeur.

23 U Sipolcru

Hè bellu cà ghjuntu à fine
U libru di e scritture
È u mondu s’addurmente
In e pessime friture
Ci ere tù, omu sperava
Dì o Diu dì mi la strada

T’anu allucatu in a tomba
Ch’è tù possi arripusà
Ma un pintone ci impedisce
D’esse vicini à vighjà
Pè pienghje lu to suspiru
Pè chere u to perdunà

Ùn credu chì Pediniella
Sia forte quant’è tè
Tù chì cummandi à lu ghjustu
U puvarellu è u rè
Ma a to luce più n’ùn vecu
Sò orfagnu è mi n’avvecu.

…Lord I obey and I love Thee.
Thou, the most merciful of the merciful.
And Thine satisfaction is th epinnacle of my desire

23 U Sipolcru

Here ends
The Book of Scriptures
And the world is numb
In its misfortune
You were our hope
Where now is my path?

They put you in a tomb
So that you could find rest
We cry your last sigh
But the stone is an obstacle
To our vigil,
To your pardon

I doubt that Death
Is as strong as you are
You who command the just
The poor and the king
But your light eludes me
I am an orphan and already I suffer

…Lord I obey and I love Thee.
Thou, the most merciful of the merciful.
And Thine satisfaction is th epinnacle of my desire

25 L’Anniversariu di Minetta

Per tutti l’anni chì sò scorsi
Per le to gioie è le to pene,
Per li fatti è li discorsi
Per lu sangue di le to vene

Ripigliu :
È… per la to mimoria cara
Chì luce sempre in core à mè
Vogliu gode ogni stonda permessa
Vogliu gode la per tè.

Per li to ochji à la funtana
U t’amore immensità,
A cara santa nostra mamma
Per l’oghje è per l’eternità.

Ripigliu

Tù sì la mio surella cara
Quella ch’hè nata à tempu à mè
È sì di mè stai luntana
Seraghju sempre accant’à tè.

25 L’Anniversariu di Minetta

For all these years past
For your joys and for your pains
For all that was said and done
For the blood flowing in your veins

Chorus:
For your memory and its light
Dear to my heart
I want to live intensely each moment granted
And live it for you

For your look at the fountain
Your love, that immensity
Our dear and holy mother
For today and forever

Chorus

It’s you my dear sister
You who saw the day I was born
Close to you I would stay
Even if you had to go away.

26 O Successores

O successores frotissimi leonis
inter templum et altare
dominantes in ministratione eius
sicut angeli sonat in laudibus
et sicut adsunt populis in adiutorio
vos estis inter ilios
qui haec faciunt
sempter curam habentes
in officio agni

26 O Successores

You successors of the mighiest lion
between the temple and the altar
you the masters in his household
as the angels sound forth praises
as the angels are here to help the nations
you are among those
who accomplish this
forever showing your care
in the service of the lamb
